When you think of New Orleans, beads, masks and Bourbon Street come to mind. But, during the last week of March this year, it was all about entrepreneurs. New Orleans Entrepreneur Week (NOEW) is the annual business festival, produced by the Idea Village, down in the Big Easy. NOEW celebrates entrepreneurs, innovative thinking and the culture of New Orleans. This year I had the incredible opportunity of attending with the Silverline team.

NOEW was a record-breaker this year, with a 103% increase in attendance from 2014. Over 10,585 entrepreneurs, students, investors, professionals and even the New Orleans Mayor came to the event to engage with each other and grow the entrepreneur community that is so important to the city.

Silverline teamed up with Salesforce to volunteer consulting time to the local startups and guide some really innovative companies through Salesforce and offer general business advice. NOEW commandeered Fulton Street for the week and held various sessions and keynotes at The Chicory, a rustic venue in the historic warehouse district.

We started off the week buzzing with excitement. It could have been the general vibe of New Orleans, the passion of the people at NOEW, or maybe because we kicked the week off with the Salesforce-Silverline Challenge, a Shark Tank-esque entrepreneur pitch competition, held at Harrah’s Casino. The winner of this challenge was GetHealthy, Inc, a health and wellness firm focusing on Direct Primary Care and offering a mobile wellness platform. They demonstrated innovative thinking, a solid business plan along with a disruptive healthcare solution. We were chomping at the bit to work with them!

The excitement carried on throughout the week as we met with many local companies and entrepreneurs that all had a level of passion and determination that was not only inspirational, but also contagious. The Keynotes at NOEW reflected the culture of New Orleans, and echoed the need to help the entrepreneur community grow. NOEW proved to be beneficial not only for Silverline, but for the thousands of entrepreneurs and the city of New Orleans. The Silverline team came back home to NY with a renewed sense of passion for what we do and an inspirational bug that we couldn’t wait to share with the rest of our company.
