Job Title: Manager, Change Management
Start Date:
July 2019

Tell us a fun fact or something interesting about yourself?:

I grew up on a farm in rural South Dakota, and have had my driver’s license since I was 14 years old!

What is your position at Silverline?

I work on our change management team as a part of Silverline’s shared services.

What does your average day look like?

I spend the first few waking hours enjoying coffee and playtime with my kids before walking them to daycare. I come back home and prep for my day—and of course enjoy some more coffee. I am usually leading the Change Management workstream on a few different projects, so I will have weekly check-ins with my clients, work on key change management scoping activities, communications or training content, and deliverables.

If it’s nearing time to go live on one of my projects, I typically have some virtual training sessions I am facilitating as well. I spend a few hours each day connecting with the Change Management team, and other Silverliners for weekly meetings, coffee chats, or project syncs. I try to eat lunch with my husband, who is also working from home, if my meetings allow, and then sign off around 5 to pick up my kids and have a few more hours of family time.

How did you find out about Silverline and your current position?

I was working for another PS firm in Boston, but looking for a more predictable commute and smaller organization to have more impact on growth and development for the Change Management practice and methodology. A colleague in my network, Josh Miedema, made the switch to Silverline in early 2019, and when I reached out to him on LinkedIn, he had nothing but great things to say about his hiring experience and the organization.

What motivates you at work?

I have always had a passion for Healthcare. My first job was as a nurse’s aid in a long-term care center, and I had even taken the MCAT and considered Medical School during my undergrad years. Silverline’s alignment and commitment to the Healthcare industry really motivates me.

While I am not in direct patient care, the technology Silverline partners to implement with our HLS clients is incredible. It supports the Triple Aim of healthcare by doing things like increasing access to care, improving the quality of care (Patient 360), and lowering cost through efficiency gains and scalable solutions in a very segmented and siloed industry. This impact and mission is what I wake up excited to be a part of every single day.

What are some interesting challenges you face?

Engagement with stakeholders is foundational to Change Management for technology projects. Whether it is shadowing key stakeholders’ work, interviewing key leaders to assess change readiness, communicating the change or training for the future state—we typically use in-person methods in these areas, as in person tends to be very engaging. The pandemic has totally changed this. We have had to help clients think about how to engage with stakeholders virtually in all of these areas.

Shifting to Zoom has given us the opportunity to rethink how to engage with stakeholders in a meaningful way virtually. We have helped clients create virtual training programs that fit their people and culture. From gamifying things with a little Kahoot! trivia to white glove 1:1 training sessions and many other innovative techniques in between, we have been having as much fun as we can during these challenging times.

What new things have you learned since you began working at Silverline?

I have learned how to connect with colleagues and clients in a mostly virtual workforce. Pouring a fresh cup of coffee, turning on the camera—even on bad hair days—and muting Slack, these are all things that have allowed me to be fully present and really listen and connect with people. Of course I have also learned so many amazing things about what Salesforce can do—we are a Summit partner after all!

What do you think makes Silverline successful?

The people. The diverse skill sets, and overall “can do” culture is foundational to the success of Silverline. Our leaders keep us focused on the peaks and walk alongside us through the valleys, so we always feel supported and know we are not alone, even when things aren’t going as planned.

What is your favorite perk?

I love the healthcare concierge available through the Sequoia app. They literally book all my appointments for me and are so responsive. It’s like having a personal assistant for all of my healthcare needs.

What is your favorite memory from working at Silverline?

The Fresh Air & Self Care Challenge. The connection and sharing amongst the 100+ Silverliner’s around the world gave me so much joy after what was a pretty isolating, tough year full of uncertainty.

What do you hope for your future at Silverline?

I hope Silverline can continue to be known as a desirable place to work, and find ways to bring people together (hopefully face to face soon) to continue the culture of collaboration and connection.

What advice would you give someone considering a job at Silverline?

Bring your whole self to work here; you are welcome and valued for the unique things that make you you. Also, be open to others. There are so many amazing people with different gifts and talents, and the more we share those gifts with each other the stronger we become as Silverliners.
