A Day in the Life: Heather Negley

A Day in the Life

Job Title: Engagement Manager
Start Date: August 2017
Fun Fact: I went been bungee jumping off a crane on a beach a long, long time ago.

What is your position at Silverline and what do you do?

I’m an Engagement Manager and manage projects for the Delivery department.

What does your average day look like?

I’m also a resource manager along with being an EM so over the course of a day I go from talking to people that I manage to calls about the progress of and steps in certain projects. I basically deal with a lot of project work.

How did you find out about Silverline and your current position?

I was friends with Andrew Porter, a Silverline Principal Consultant, from a previous company we worked together at and stayed in touch. I knew he had been with Silverline for a while so that was a good sign to me and then I applied!

What motivates you at work?

Helping clients and my coworkers and getting things done efficiently.

What do you like most about your work?

I like being a part of the Doublejump Program at Silverline. The Doublejump Program is a leadership training program that lasts about a year. You have different learning and training modules with speakers from different companies and you get to know more about what goes on behind the scenes at Salesforce. At the end of the program, you have a capstone project where you have the freedom to do and create anything that could give back to the company. There is a lot of creative freedom at Silverline so that is what I like most about my work.

What are some challenges you face?

I would say getting projects done on time, within budget, and in reason, which is the trifecta of challenges for any EM.

What new things have you learned since you began working at Silverline?

So many things! I learned how to tell a good story with different techniques and was able to get my Project Manager Certification (PMP). I also learned how to build team dynamics and different capabilities within a business.

What do you think makes Silverline a successful company?

The culture and the people they attract. Everyone that works here wants to be on a team and produce great results. Silverline is a team-oriented atmosphere and that is what makes it so successful.

What is your favorite perk?

Working remotely!

What is your favorite memory?

When Rich Resnick, our President, and Melissa Nelson, our Chief Value Officer, dressed up in fat suits and then had a wrestling match in the office. It was hilarious to watch and from what I can remember I believe Rich won.

What do you hope for your future at Silverline?

To keep growing and learning and adding value to the company as it expands.

If you had a friend who was thinking about working for Silverline, what advice would you give them?
