Reading time: 3 minutes

Job Title: Associate Developer
Start Date:
June 2018
Fun Fact:
I love to travel, I even rebuilt a pop-up camper from the frame up!

What is your position at Silverline and what do you do?

Associate Developer! What that means is I help do the custom development work for clients, writing Apex, and any Lightning components in Salesforce that need to be personalized.

What does your average day look like?

I start by checking on any emails from clients and review a to-do checklist on client projects. My work also depends on the day. I can have days with a mix and match of meetings: client stand-ups, team check-ins, client demos, or Sprint planning. Then the rest of my day is spent on starting tasks for clients and getting work done. Lastly, I can have an alignment meeting of some kind with my superiors to check in on projects.

How did you find out about Silverline and your current position?

I met someone who worked at Silverline at a Salesforce Developer Community Group. I mentioned that I was looking for a job and then they recommended Silverline, so I applied right away!

What motivates you at work?

I think a few things! Delighting the client and giving them something that works specifically for their needs is one of them. Also, Salesforce is flexible and you can configure it in many ways, so there are multiple options to solve problems which can be a fun challenge to figure out the best solution. Learning new things in the process is definitely part of it too. I love being able to challenge myself while giving the clients a finished product that is souped up for their business.

What do you like most about your work?

What I like most about my work is seeing the impact on productivity. The final solution we come up with and the difference it makes in people’s work life is rewarding to watch.

What are some challenges you face?

I think the feeling of the unknown. Not knowing how a solution will work and if users will like what you made. Also, unpredictability if you’re really addressing the needs of the client. We have processes in place to find all this out; there’s just uncertainty in the final stage. Lastly, there is so much in Salesforce that I still don’t know. It’s a constant learning process that I enjoy.

What new things have you learned since you began working at Silverline?

I have a background in how software teams work and software development lifecycles, so it was interesting to learn about consulting teams and maintaining client relationships, in addition to Salesforce-specific needs.

What do you think makes Silverline a successful company?

A lot of it is the growth and the people-focused mindset. Everyone is extremely supportive. Salesforce is so big, so not one person knows absolutely everything. Everyone is open and willing to help one another out. It’s awesome being in such a fun and learning work environment.

What is your favorite perk?

Yoga and the cold brew coffee in the office!

What is your favorite memory?

My first all-hands meeting! It felt surreal being at the office and meeting everyone. It exceeded my expectations. Being at a company that holds executive office hours — which is an opportunity for anyone in the company to ask the CEO, Gireesh, a question — is so rare. The genuine transparency of leadership and the approachability is something I have never experienced before.

What do you hope for your future at Silverline?

I hope to continue to positively impact the clients and grow my personal knowledge in the Salesforce community. I want to be a good teammate to my clients, coworkers, and anyone in the company.

If you had a friend who was thinking about working for Silverline, what advice would you give them?

Bring your authentic self. Yes, it’s an interview and don’t show up in sweatpants, but be you! Who you are and your personality is valued at Silverline. You don’t need to put on a front. Be 100% yourself even if you are really nervous.
