Around the Office: Silverline Summit 2015

By klent 04.06.15

Once a year Silverliners from all over the country gather for an event we call the Silverline Summit. This year, we held our 4th annual summit at our NYC headquarters. The event was an opportunity to pause and reflect on lessons learned from 2014, celebrate our successes and align as a company on our goals for the coming year.

Over the course of two days we covered a lot of great content and heard presentations from across the company on 2015 goals and strategic initiatives. Support Manager, Kate Robertson, said after the Summit she felt, “Rejuvenated, inspired and ready for 2015.”  Other employees agreed that it was a great opportunity for them to feel more connected and aligned with the company.

A highlight of the Summit was an awards ceremony we dubbed, The Silver Globes. The Silver Globes featured an entertaining dinner and awards presentation (check out those costumes members of our Executive Team wore!) where employees and teams were recognized for their outstanding achievements in 2014. Silverliners voted in advance for the winners of fun awards such as “The MacGyver.” Additional awards such as the “Best Project Team” were data driven or manager nominated.

On day two of the Summit, we partnered with Impact4Good for a team building activity where we built bikes. Silverliners split into fifteen teams and competed to answer a series of trivia questions to earn tools to build the bikes. The team understood that once the bikes were complete, they would be donated to students from Kipp NYC for their outstanding scholastic achievements. The students are from underserved communities in NYC and for all of them, this was their very first bicycle. Little did the teams know, they were in for a surprise. After the bicycles were constructed, complete with a card and helmet for the student, the kids showed up at our office! Each team was able to present the bike they built to the student in person. It was an incredibly rewarding activity and a wonderful way to end this year’s Silverline Summit.
