Silverline Office Tour: Atlanta

By 07.03.19
Reading time: 4 minutes

In this second post in our office tour series, I sat down (virtually) with Atlanta natives Kim Carroll (pictured below on the left) and Janel Bromberek (pictured below on the right) for a little hub Q&A.

First off, who are you and why are you an expert on all things Atlanta?

Kim (left) and Janel (right) let us in on the magic of working in ATL.

Kimberly Carroll: My role is Alliance Operations Associate, and I think we have the most fun team in the company. I could be biased though, idk.

Janel Bromberek: My role at Silverline is CalendarAnything Account Executive. I love the fact that I get to work with many people from every type of industry all over the world.

Kim: I was born and raised in Atlanta. I lived here my whole life, left for college for 5 years in AL, came back and stayed. The most unique thing about our city, is the genuine friendliness. You can go out and meet new people. The Southern Hospitality is a real thing, not a myth.

Janel: Yes! 100%, it’s real. I was born and raised in Atlanta and I went to college at GSU which is right down the road from Ponce City Market, where we have our office.

Tell me more about the ATL Office.

Kim: Our co-working space, Industrious, is cool. Our neighbors are super nice and will come over and chat most days. They have a happy hour on our floor every Friday, which can temporarily ward off the FOMO from not being at 860 (our NYC headquarters). I also like that on days I don’t feel like sitting at my desk, I can work elsewhere in the office.

Janel: Exactly that. There is a nice rooftop as well as an outdoor area that is great if you need some Vitamin D! I also love that the space is stylish and on trend. Sharing an office space with Pinterest is pretty cool. The perks Industrious gives are great too. As Kim mentioned, the happy hours are fun and there are cool activities around holidays. For Earth Day, they offered the opportunity to decorate a reusable tote over happy hour.

OK, now what about the city? Good food? Fun activities nearby?

Kim: My favorite tourist traps would have to be The College Football Hall of Fame, the Coca Cola museum, and Center for Civil Rights. But if you want to live like a real ATLien, I would spend the day on the Beltline, hop around to the breweries and restaurants off the beltline, and then head to the carnival on the Roof of Ponce, or grab a drink on the roof of Clermont for a 360 view of the city.

I would suggest someone grab a hot dog at our most famous spot The Varsity, dinner at Fox Bros BBQ, and because we are known for breakfast, a biscuit at Buttermilk Kitchen (Or Waffle House, of course)

Janel: Well, after all that, I am not needed here. But I’ll add that a lot of folks will say the GA Aquarium. I’m personally not a fan, but it is VERY popular.

Kim: I also think one of the biggest surprises about Atlanta is how much green there is here. It’s a city in a forest. I think also the sheer amount of stuff to do. It’s a city that has several festivals every weekend full of millennials and their dogs. We also have one of the biggest Pride parades in the country.

Janel: A city in a forest! Yes, that is exactly what it is.

Why is Atlanta an important place for Silverline?

Kim: I think it is important to have a presence in Atlanta because of Salesforce’s expansion. They’re building a new tower and adding 600 more jobs just in Atlanta.  It’s good to have a strong presence in the Salesforce ecosystem. Outside of that, Atlanta is a bright and diverse community. I am excited that our team in Atlanta is growing.

What is a typical day for you?

Janel: My work day starts with a tall glass of water, looking at my calendar and pipeline to have a plan of attack for the day. But my favorite part of the day is taking my pups (two Corgis!) for a walk and playtime in the morning before getting started.

Kim: My typical day at work always starts with coffee while I check my email and make sure there are no immediate fires to put out. Luckily our office has East Pole coffee available, and it’s the most delicious coffee ever. I check my calendar to see if it will be a day of meetings or not and then I plan around my to-do list and work through any ad hoc items I may have.
