My Journey to Celebrate Pride Month 2019 with Silverline

June marks Pride Month. I always like to reflect on and understand what Pride means to me. I have been very fortunate to be open and my true self for the past 12 years and out to others for the past 5-6 years, thanks to all of the trailblazers before me.

I also have to think about a time a couple of years ago where I was not so proud. My peers in my college major were not very accepting of who I was, so I had a hard time the last two years of college — where I pretty much had to go back in the closet. As a result, I became depressed and cut myself off from my school world.

Fortunately, I graduated from college in July 2017 and hightailed it out of there, and from there I started working on my confidence and pride. I also have been fortunate to find a job at Silverline; I have been open the entire time I have worked here. In fact, I even talked about my sexuality in my interview!

Silverline has not only helped me in my career but with my confidence being who I am. The culture, love, and support have been amazing and everyone has treated me without bias. It’s also heartwarming to work for a company that celebrates who I am. I have been a lot more confident and I strive to be as open and accepting as Silverline has been to me. I work daily to make this company open and accepting for everyone else.

Join us as we celebrate Pride with Silverline and Salesforce

This year, to celebrate Pride, Silverline has been invited to a fireside chat at the NYC Salesforce Tower, and to join Salesforce in the 50-year anniversary of the Stonewall Riots/World Pride Parade — and of course, we will be sharing this all over social media.

Check out Silverline’s Twitter on Wednesday, June 26, at 6 p.m. as we live tweet the World Pride Celebration and Diversity Fireside Chat. Silverliners will also be taking over Silverline’s Instagram for the World Pride Parade. See you there!
