During the first week of March, the Silverline team came together and escaped the cold (some literally from the Nor’easter that hit) for our annual Summit which took place in Phoenix, Arizona. The days were filled with meetings, sessions, and lots of learning and brainstorming for the year. Plenty of us also had the opportunity to meet each other in person for the first time! The team broke out into department sessions but all gathered together Thursday evening for our All Hands Meeting, Annual Awards Ceremony, and to take part in a Silverline Cares volunteer activity.

Silverline Cares is our philanthropic initiative dedicated to the Pledge 1% model. During the Silverline Summit, we revamped the program to ensure that all full-time Silverliners have the opportunity to use 16 hours worth of VTO for each calendar year. To come together and collectively give back, we all participated in a 90-minute activity that benefited the local community.

We worked together and ultimately assembled and donated 875 hygiene care kits to the American Red Cross of Greater Phoenix. With the help of Impact 4 Good, we broke out into teams and played a game of Trivial Pursuit. A ballroom-sized game board was created and teams needed to correctly answer 30 questions in order to gather their items to assemble the kits. Handwritten messages of encouragement also went inside of each hygiene care kit in order to establish a connection with those who need it most during a very emotional time in their lives.

Don Speck, Chief Development Officer, and Phil Schauer, Regional Direct Services Support Manager, of the Greater Phoenix chapter both attended the event. Following the event, Don added that “Your 875 comfort kits arrived at a most opportune moment for our chapter, as we had just given out the last kit the day before your event! Know that you have brought smiles to many faces.”

I am personally grateful to work for a company that allows me the chance to take part in philanthropy. I am looking forward to many more activities that involve getting together with my co-workers while giving back. Check out how much fun we all had!
