Press Release

A group from Silverline took time for a corporate social responsibility experience to give back to the local community by preparing 150 solar car kits for donation along with 30 assembled solar cars to STEM Santa Fe. The event took place at the Hilton Santa Fe Buffalo Thunder in Santa Fe, New Mexico on June 5, 2019.

Silverline worked with Impact 4 Good (http://impact4good.com/), a company that focuses on teambuilding programs that give back to the community. For this event, Silverline selected “Go GREEN Racing”. Go GREEN Racing focuses on the importance of youth learning about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM education) and alternative energy at an early age. During a highly energized and competitive program, teams used creativity and ingenuity to build solar cars in preparation for an exciting, single-elimination tournament. Along the way, teams prepared 150 solar car kits for the kids who will be participating in local youth programs which allow the young minds to be introduced to and learn about STEM education in a hands-on manner. A hand-written “STEM Message of Encouragement” was included with each solar car kit to motivate and inspire the children!

Since 2016, STEM Santa Fe advocates for, develops and provides STEM programming, mentoring and resources for all youth, especially under-represented groups in STEM, to realize their potential and expand their opportunities in a dynamic world. They envision a world filled with analytical citizens exploring complex issues for the betterment of society. They focus on; initiating out-of-school enrichment and mentoring programs in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, mentoring students to attend and enter STEM competitions in the region, fostering  teamwork, problem solving skills, and resilience to prepare the youth for the future job market demand, organizing STEM conferences and events to inspire students to remain engaged in school and in STEM fields, and engaging under-represented groups in STEM, mainly girls, Hispanics and Native Americans to close the achievement gap.

Lina Germann, Founder & CEO of STEM Santa Fe, graciously thanked the group in person at the event for their time and effort in helping to provide these much appreciated kits to some very deserving youth. Following the event she went on to say that “The need for these programs is enormous. With your support, we will continue to bring excitement of STEM to Northern New Mexico youths and to motivate them to become innovative and creative thinkers read to meet 21st century challenges.
