Silverline Supports Today’s Youth with Big Brothers Big Sisters

By Maggie Rupel 06.12.14

Silverline believes in advocating for children; they are the leaders of tomorrow. We are a proud to support the youth of greater Los Angeles through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. For nearly 60 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles (BBBSLA) has provided children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported, one-to-one mentoring relationships. Nearly 90% of the children they support are from poor or low income households and many come from a family where a parent is incarcerated. Participating in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program changes their lives for the better, forever.

Last week, Silverline sponsored the BBBSLA 21st Annual Golf Classic. The day recognized Brandon Mitchell a member of the mentoring program and recipient of the Bob Howard Scholarship. Nearly 150 people attended the event and Silverline is honored to be among the benefactors. Tiffany Siart, President and CEO of BBBSLA says of our participation,

“It is our goal to put 1,600 kids (our Littles) facing adversity on a path to success every year.  When you bring a mentor (a Big) into a child’s life, you give that child a shot in the arm. The relationship established by our matches (our Bigs and Littles) gives our Littles immediate confidence, and over the long term, our Littles stay in school and perform better! They stay away from crime and other risky behaviors. Our matches stick together for years, and many for a lifetime. Thanks to the support of companies like Silverline, we’re able to continue offering our mentoring programs.”

Donations are still being accepted and the event is expected to raise over $300K. To help BBBSLA continue their work please.
