At this year’s Dreamforce, Mphasis Silverline had the privilege of exhibiting in the Healthcare & Life Sciences section of Agentic Enterprise City, where we were able to connect directly with industry leaders and see what our Salesforce partners are doing to drive innovation for HLS organizations.

One thing we heard over and over is that many healthcare systems have become obstacles to care. Patients experience delays, providers spend excessive time on documentation, and members often feel like numbers rather than individuals. Traditional approaches to healthcare technology have contributed to this complexity.

Historically, every new problem often resulted in another application, workflow, login, or operational process. Human workers became the connective tissue holding disconnected systems together. Administrative effort and manual reconciliation consumed significant amounts of time that could have been devoted to patient care. This is where Salesforce’s AI capabilities are shifting the landscape.

The rise of the agentic health enterprise

During Dreamforce, Salesforce emphasized that healthcare organizations must move from fragmented systems and administrative complexity to become agentic health enterprises powered by trusted AI, connected data, and intelligent action.

The next generation of healthcare transformation will not be defined simply by deploying AI models, but by creating connected AI systems that operate responsibly, understand context, and drive meaningful outcomes for patients, providers, payers, and caregivers. Healthcare is fundamentally about people and human connection, and technology should restore time, trust, and focus to those delivering and receiving care.

Several healthcare scenarios illustrate this vision:

  • In provider settings, AI agents can listen during encounters, automatically generate clinical documentation, update records, and reduce physician administrative burden.
  • In payer operations, agents can handle identity verification, explain denied claims, prepare appeals, and guide members through complex healthcare processes.

But before these agents can be deployed, healthcare organizations must build AI strategies around three essential principles: trust, context, and action.

Trust: the foundation of healthcare AI

Trust is the single most important requirement for successful AI deployment in healthcare. While building AI agents has become technically easier, deploying them safely and responsibly within healthcare environments remains challenging. Unlike many industries, healthcare requires strict compliance with regulations, privacy standards, and patient safety requirements.

Trust is the foundational layer. Organizations need confidence that AI agents operate within established governance frameworks, comply with HIPAA requirements, maintain audit trails, respect access controls, and function predictably. Healthcare organizations cannot rely solely on generic AI systems. Instead, they need infrastructure designed specifically for regulated healthcare environments. Salesforce’s longstanding investment in healthcare governance capabilities is a key enabler for trusted AI deployment.

When healthcare organizations establish trust in their AI systems, they gain the confidence necessary to apply AI across strategic initiatives like care access, workforce experience, patient engagement, and care coordination.

Context: transforming data into understanding

While trust makes healthcare AI deployable, context makes healthcare AI useful. Healthcare organizations possess enormous volumes of information, but much of it remains fragmented across systems and organizational boundaries. As a result, providers, payers, and patients frequently encounter inconsistent or incomplete information.

Context is the combination of data, relationships, business rules, and historical interactions that together provide a complete understanding of a person. MuleSoft, Informatica, Data 360, and Health Cloud solutions work together to unify healthcare data and create person-centered experiences. Instead of maintaining disconnected records across care and coverage environments, organizations can establish a trusted and comprehensive view of the individual.

The vision extends beyond Salesforce applications. AI-powered insights and workflows can be surfaced within systems that employees already use, including collaboration environments such as Microsoft Teams and Slack. Salesforce remains the orchestration, intelligence, and activation layer while employees continue working in familiar tools.

Action: converting intelligence into outcomes

Trust and context only create value when they lead to tangible results. Healthcare organizations need technologies capable of orchestrating workflows, coordinating services, automating tasks, and driving measurable improvements.

New Health Cloud innovations include payer contact center enhancements, health engagement journeys, voice-enabled assessments, and expanded healthcare data partnerships. These capabilities support member services, proactive outreach, care gap closure, and population health initiatives.

A detailed demonstration followed a hypothetical patient recovering from hip replacement surgery. AI-powered healthcare engagement workflows identified fall-risk concerns, enrolled the patient in an appropriate support program, generated care plans, monitored progress, and provided healthcare leaders with operational visibility through analytics. Tasks that historically required weeks of coordination could now be completed in minutes through connected workflows and automation.

Health Cloud innovations across the care journey

One of the most exciting aspects of Dreamforce was seeing upcoming Health Cloud capabilities designed to address friction points throughout the healthcare journey. These innovations target longstanding operational bottlenecks that frequently delay care delivery:

Agentic Referral Management: Traditional referral processing often involves faxed documents, manual data entry, insurance verification, and repeated follow-up activities. AI agents can automate referral prioritization, extract information from unstructured documents, retrieve missing clinical records, verify insurance coverage, and accelerate patient scheduling. The result is faster patient access to specialty care while reducing administrative effort for healthcare staff.

Healthcare Voice Agents: Voice-based interactions allow patients to schedule appointments, receive guidance, and access healthcare services without lengthy wait times. AI agents can act continuously, helping patients receive support outside conventional business hours while remaining connected to healthcare workflows and organizational data.

Intake Automation: With Agentic Referral Triage and Intake, referrals can be managed automatically from the moment they arrive. Instead of referral coordinators sorting through queues of incoming referrals manually, Agentforce prioritizes work automatically based on factors such as urgency, capacity, and acuity. This ensures that the most important cases surface first while reducing delays caused by manual review and routing.
