Celebrating Giving Tuesday: How Silverline Helps in Times of Need

Today is a special Giving Tuesday — occurring in addition to the annual Giving Tuesday that will still happen on December 1, 2020. This event is taking place in order to increase “grassroots generosity, citizen engagement, business and philanthropy activation, and support for communities and nonprofits around the world.”

At Silverline, we’re big on giving back to our communities, and actively contribute our time, resources, and knowledge in line with Salesforce’s Pledge 1% practice. So today, we’re highlighting all the ways Silverliners are giving back to their community — especially during such strange and challenging times.

Lisa Dallenbach, Chief People Officer

My family is helping our local first responders and volunteer network who need basic masks. Our role has been to cut all the fabric so the sewing teams had all the necessary materials prepped and ready to go.

Janel Bromberek, AppEx Account Executive

I have been volunteering on Be My Eyes. It’s an easy app that helps blind individuals with everyday tasks. The app sends you notifications when a blind person requests help matching socks or looking at a milk expiration date, etc. It’s very cool and super rewarding!

Aileen McGrath, Client Services Manager

My husband and I are first responders. He is Chief at the local VFD; and a member of two other stations. I am on the board for the local VFD. It really comes down to the simple idea that neighbors help and support neighbors. It’s our responsibility to those in the communities in which we live.

Katy Engebretson, Partner Alliances, Healthcare & Life Sciences

I’m a mentor for BUILT BY GIRLS (BBG). I was drawn to BBG to be a mentor because when I was growing up, I never really had a similar opportunity to ask questions and understand more about navigating the professional world. I’ve attended one of their events and I had my first initial (remote) session last month and it was so enjoyable and rewarding. BBG provides an outline of suggested topics and you find yourself going off the path and really just providing guidance and your personal journey with the mentee. I plan on being a part of this organization for a long time to provide any guidance and assistance I can on how to initiate your first steps into the professional world in technology as a woman.

Lindsay Lelivelt, Marketing Content Strategist

As for myself, your humble blog author, I am also a mentor with BUILT BY GIRLS, as well as a mentor through my college alumni association. Throughout the quarantine, I’ve been shopping and running errands for family members, neighbors, and friends who are unable to make it to the store, or who are at risk of infection and need to stay home. It’s not difficult work, but it makes such a difference.

When times are tough, every little bit you can give helps to make our neighborhoods and communities stronger. We’re happy to provide what we can to assist those in need.
