Job Title: Consultant Advocate
Start Date: November 2017
What is a fun fact or something interesting about yourself?
I am an Eagle Scout, I went to school for theater, and I know how to both crack and braid bullwhips. I find the physics behind whips incredibly fascinating because they break the sound barrier. It takes approximately 15 hours to make one.
What is your position at Silverline?
I get to be a Hufflepuff at work. I support a team of consultants in our delivery department and my role involves being there as their resource manager full time.
What does your average day look like?
So many meetings: team meetings, one-on-one chats with every consultant, seeking feedback from project teams, and offering career advice.
How did you find out about Silverline and your current position?
I was already here at Silverline before this current position. Silverline’s tag team found me on LinkedIn and invited me to interview with the delivery team. At the time, this opportunity didn’t work out, but I kept in touch. A few months later, Silverline had another opening with business enablement, and I jumped at the opportunity to work for Silverline.
What motivates you at work?
Helping people succeed and feel empowered in their own success.
What are some interesting challenges you face?
I have to support people in very different roles and places in their careers. In order to achieve success, I must act like a chameleon and give the same energy to everyone regardless of their needs.
What new things have you learned since you began working at Silverline?
I’ve learned what I really want to do in this industry, which is to work with people intensely. This role is a huge step in a very different direction for me, and it has been amazing.
What do you think makes Silverline successful?
The people, hands down. We have a bunch of people from all over the place with vastly different perspectives. Great care goes into making sure we hire the right people for the atmosphere we want to cultivate. I think that’s important.
What is your favorite perk?
The medical perk. Having access to One Medical is awesome; it’s a really good service and something I would otherwise have to pay for out of pocket.
What is your favorite memory from working at Silverline?
After Silverline’s annual holiday party this past year, while a lot of other folks were heading to afterparties, my wife and I peeled off with Zach Baker and his wife Sarah. The four of us went to a restaurant down the street and had a quiet evening catching up and telling stories. It was a really cool, one-on-one experience with a coworker, we had a really nice night.
What do you hope for your future at Silverline?
I hope I’m able to positively impact the careers and lives of the consultants I support.
What advice would you give someone considering a job at Silverline?
Be honest about where you are and where you want to be. It’s really tempting when you’re getting a new job to feel you have to inflate yourself or otherwise make yourself seem more than you are. The truth is that it’s better to be authentic, and if is the place for you, everything will fall into place.
