Silverline is excited and humbled to support Akshaya Patra in its fight against child hunger and malnutrition in India. In contributing to the generous Akshaya Patra foundation, this initiative has given us the chance to provide 35 children in the country with nutritious, wholesome, and tasty food for an entire year.

Child hunger in India is an adverse blockade to personal and educational development. Recognising this as an endangerment to adolescent well-being and prosperity, the non-profit Akshaya Patra Foundation, headquartered in Bengaluru, India, was created in 2000 with the intent to stop hunger from impeding education. From its inception, the foundation has grown from providing midday meals to 1,500 children in 5 schools, to 1.7 million in over 14,000 schools. Their dedicated kitchens have grown from 1 in the city of Mayapur to 36 robust locations in 12 states of India.

Akshaya Patra’s kitchens employ a system in which all children are provided with midday meals that are clean, healthy, nutritious, and serve to suppress classroom hunger while increasing school enrolment and attendance. The meals are prepared under strict quality management guidelines, then delivered to schools in their blue bus transport vehicles each day. The organization aims to feed 5 million school children by 2020, following the vision that “no child in India shall be deprived of education because of hunger.”

Silverline is grateful to stand firmly behind Akshaya Patra’s vision, and for the opportunity to invest in the future of India and aid in paving the way to hunger-free education.
